Nissan Formula E Team tackles Formula E’s most visited venue in Berlin double-header

Rowland and Nato return to the destination of both their first Formula E victories

Nissan Formula E Team heads to the popular Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit this weekend to contest Rounds 7 and 8 of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, following a six-week break.

The last event hosted at the circuit in July 2025 saw Oliver Rowland crowned Formula E Drivers’ World Champion with two races to spare. The Brit also secured his maiden win in the series there with the team in 2020 and has taken three further podiums in Berlin since then.

Norman Nato also claimed his first victory in the championship at the track in 2021, moving up from sixth on the grid to earn his maiden success, with his future teammate Rowland following him home in second.

Berlin is the only city to host an E-Prix in each Formula E season, with all but one of the 22 races taking place at the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit. The latest layout of the track is a 2.343-kilometer variation, which produces an incredible fast-paced lap around the 15 corners, with times under a minute constantly being produced.

Track action begins on Friday with Free Practice 1 from 16:00 local time (UTC+2). Qualifying on both Saturday and Sunday will get underway at 11:40, with lights out for both rounds at 16:00.

We’re confident that we’ve found the main reasons why we’ve been struggling recently and we have been working hard to put them right. Berlin is the most-visited track in the history of the championship, so we’ve got plenty of data to prepare us going into this double-header. We’ve been strong in qualifying during the season, always having at least one car advancing to the duels, so our main target now is to transfer this performance to the race as well and convert it into strong points for both cars.”

“It’s been nice to reset and recover over the break and reflect on the positives from the opening six races. The start to the season has been very up and down so looking ahead we want to get consistency back in our performances. Berlin is historically not my best track, but I took my first Formula E win there and also clinched the Drivers’ World Championship last year at the venue. It’s a circuit that I’ve had to work out over my time in the series and adjust my style to as the track surface makes it a unique challenge. My main focus heading into this weekend is improving my qualifying and making sure I’m in the right position to achieve great results.”

"It’s been an important period over the last six weeks to regroup and evaluate our performance so far this campaign. I’ve been one of the top qualifiers in Season 12 and I feel like I’ve made big steps forward compared to last year, but we just need to find a better rhythm in the races. Berlin is a special place for me as it’s where I took my first Formula E victory and there is always a great atmosphere, with a lot of fans in attendance. Qualifying is incredibly tight due to the short lap and the fact that many of us drivers have so much experience around the track. We’ve shown our potential throughout the season so far but it’s now crucial to score big points and move ourselves up the championship standings.”

“The track in Berlin is unique due to it being a concrete surface. It’s very abrasive and really challenges you to get the tires operating in the correct window. I think it’ll be a peloton-style race on Sunday, with the Pit Boost event on Saturday being a bit more flat out, and it will be interesting to see how the one Attack Mode deployment goes during that event. The racing at this track is always great to watch but you’ll want to be in the lead pack to avoid any kind of trouble.”
