Oliver Rowland leads Norman Nato in the London E-Prix

Rowland secures fourth in the Drivers' Championship as Nissan Formula E Team concludes the GEN3 era sixth in the Teams' standings

Nissan Formula E Team secured points in both races during the final weekend of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Oliver Rowland scored in the two events across the weekend, while Norman Nato recorded a top-10 finish in Sunday's season finale, bringing the campaign and the GEN3 era to a close.

Round 16

During Round 16 on Saturday, both Rowland and Nato were unable to progress to the Duels from their respective qualifying groups, lining up 13th and 16th on the grid.

In the race, a poorly timed Full Course Yellow compromised Rowland's strategy, but a strong late charge saw him recover to 10th and claim the bonus point for fastest lap. Meanwhile, Nato gained positions on the opening lap before suffering a puncture following contact with another driver, eventually crossing the line 15th after battling through the remainder of the race.

Round 17

On Sunday, in the final race of the season and the GEN3 era, another difficult qualifying session meant Rowland would begin the E-Prix in 17th, while a technical issue for Nato prevented him from setting a lap, leaving him 19th on the grid.

The squad again opted to save energy at the start of the race, with both drivers using their Attack Mode activations later on. After running outside of the points for the majority of the event, the duo went on the offensive in the latter stages, avoiding incidents and making places. Rowland worked his way up to ninth, again earning the bonus point for fastest lap, with Nato close behind in 10th to round off the campaign.

Season 12 review

The team has enjoyed several highlights across Season 12, scoring six podium finishes and a memorable victory in Monaco. Rowland remained in the Drivers' Championship fight until the final weekend of the campaign, with podiums in São Paulo, Mexico City, Jeddah and Berlin, while Nato secured valuable points throughout the season, including a fifth-place finish in Berlin. Despite a challenging spell in China, the Japanese outfit closed the season by scoring points in each of the final four races at its home event in Tokyo and the season finale in London.

Nissan Formula E Team concludes Season 12 sixth in the Teams' Championship, with Oliver Rowland fourth in the Drivers' standings and Norman Nato 19th, while Nissan claims fifth in the Manufacturers' Championship.

Nissan Formula E Team will now turn its full attention to the final stages of development of its GEN4 challenger ahead of the start of Season 13. The championship's next era will officially begin later this year, with the 2026/27 official pre-season testing in November.

Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal, Nissan Formula E Team: “We weren’t quite there with the pace in qualifying this weekend, which made it difficult to fight for the results we were aiming for. While we didn’t achieve our goals for the event, we’re happy to finish the season on a positive note with two good comeback drives and both drivers in the points. Overall, it has been a season of ups and downs; we’ve had some really strong results, but we’ve been inconsistent. At times it hasn’t been easy, but everyone in the team has done everything possible to give us the best chance at every event, keeping us in contention for the Drivers’ Championship until the last weekend and fighting for points until the very end, so a big thank you to the whole team and the drivers for their efforts and for never giving up.

“Looking back at GEN3 as a whole, we have been on an incredible journey. We were a new team for the start of Season 9, and we end this era with 21 podiums, seven wins and a Drivers’ World Championship, so we can be very proud of what we have achieved. As this chapter comes to an end, I want to take the opportunity also to wholeheartedly thank Norman, who has been a huge part of our project in GEN3. He’s been with us for three out of these past four years and took the very first podium of Nissan Formula E Team back in Season 9. He’s been fundamental to the success we’ve had thanks to his commitment and hard work both on and off the track, and we wish him all the best.

“Our focus now turns fully to GEN4 and Season 13. We are aiming for plenty more success in the championship, and I believe that the best is yet to come.”

“We knew coming into the weekend that this circuit isn't our strongest, so after two difficult qualifying sessions it was always going to be tough to score the points we needed. To finish in the top four of the championship for a third consecutive season is still something we can be proud of. We've had to fight hard throughout the year and, while we didn't quite have the strongest package at every event, everyone in the team kept pushing and never gave up.

“Looking back, the GEN3 era has been a fantastic chapter for us as a team and for me personally, and there are a lot of great memories and important milestones to take away. Now it’s all about GEN4. It's a really exciting step forward for Formula E and I'm looking forward to seeing what this new era will bring.”

“It was a tough weekend, but I'm happy to finish the season with a top-10 result in the final race. Overall, it's been a difficult year because I honestly feel like I've driven better than ever, but for different reasons we just couldn't turn that into the results we deserved. That's racing sometimes, but I'm proud of how everyone in the team kept pushing and never gave up.

"I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone at Nissan Formula E Team. I've had three great years with the team and we've shared lots of good moments together. Thank you to all the engineers, mechanics and everyone behind the scenes for all the hard work and support. While I now move on to focus on another chapter in my career, I've really enjoyed my time in Formula E, both on the track and around the paddock, and I'm happy to have been part of this championship. It's goodbye for now, but I hope to see everyone again soon."
